IS ALOT OF HOMEWORK UNHEALTHY?

Any average student will spend about seven hours in a week doing his homework. However there is no clear answer if too much homework is unhealthy or not.
According to a research, homework has more positive benefits at the high school level than the middle school students and little benefits for elementary school students. The research discloses that assigning too much homework has a lot of academic benefits. However, it cuts on family moments, personal time, results in loss of interest in studying, causes fatigue and also increases chances of cheating among other negative effects.
Homework has disadvantages but also has its fair share of advantages. Examples of advantages are increased understanding, enhancement of critical thinking, and an increase in management skills. Additionally, writing work from home helps the teacher track the student’s progress out of the confines of the classroom.
The National Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and National Education Association, support the “Ten minute homework rule” which basically is ten minutes homework per grade level.
Homework is not about quantity but about quality. So the big question here is “how can we transform homework so that it’s engaging, relevant and supports learning?”
